Be A Volunteer or Intern

“Volunteers and interns are a vital part of our ability to serve the community.” says Scott Harris, Proprietor

We exist to provide services and resources to Michigan’s underserved individuals, families & communities by offering a comprehensive bookstore & neighborhood center. Further it is our goal to make certain that every individual can see their faces and hear their stories in our collection, regardless of everything.

We have volunteer opportunities for people with a passion for books who also have talents in any of the following areas:

  • general book store work,

  • sorting,

  • research,

  • store upkeep,

  • social media,

  • podcasting and other media production,

  • PR skills,

  • in-store event helpers,

  • and assisting at tabling events outside the store.

Opportunities range from one “full” six-hour day a week in the store to a few hours a week in the store to short- and longer-term project work. Social media volunteers can work virtually from their homes after training.

Fill out the form below if you want to learn about our current needs and begin the volunteer application process. We provide the training and opportunities. You provide your passion, talents, and commitments.

We do ask for a 6-month commitment because of the time required for us to make a training investment in you.
