It’s the forty-first century, and humanity has colonized the stars — but two shadows hang over civilization: unstable energy technology that causes societies to stagnate, and a sinister artificial virus that strips humans of free will and fuels a resurgence of slavery. When the aging emperor of the mighty Chrysanthemum Throne faces his corrupt son’s succession, his daughter Fujiama — a historian with a daring theory — believes the long-lost planet Earth holds the key to humanity’s survival. Dispatched aboard the battleship William Lloyd Garrison under the command of Admiral Ethan Kharg, Fujiama must navigate treacherous warlords, conniving aliens, a ferocious ship’s captain, and the mysteries of deep space — all while an alien spacecraft shadows their voyage through increasingly hostile territory.
